About

Dr. Somers

Dr. Somers grew up in Pennsylvania then graduated with honors with an English degree from Duke University in 2006. After a brief stint working in film and advertising in New York City, she completed her pre-medical post-baccalaureate studies at Bryn Mawr College in 2008. She graduated with her medical degree in 2012 from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and was recognized with the AMWA award for top 10 women in her class.

She completed her internship and residency in dermatology at the University of Rochester in 2016, where she served as the chief resident.

She spent six years on faculty as Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, at which time she held positions of Dermatology Clerkship Director, Ambulatory Medical Director of Dermatology, and Director of the Patch Testing Center. At the university, she specialized in contact dermatitis, acne, and LGBT dermatology care.

She founded Flower City Dermatology in 2022.

"Dr. Somers not only is well-versed in standard skin issues, but also the more rare conditions most dermatologists have never even heard of.  With her expertise, excellent bedside manner, and willingness to work with other doctors on issues that affect other systems as well as the skin, I am finally getting my skin issues as well as my overall health back under control.  I honestly believe that everyone that needs help with skin issues should see Dr. Somers for honest and compassionate care."
